A Lem Rune can change what you do with a promising piece of gear in D2R. Its extra gold from monsters is useful on appropriate equipment, but its place in Treachery and Wealth makes the choice less obvious than simply dropping it into the first open socket. If you're sorting through D2R Ladder Items for your next farming setup, decide first which of those jobs matters most to your character.

What does a Lem Rune do in D2R

Lem provides extra gold from monsters when socketed in appropriate equipment. That makes it relevant to gold farming, where the aim is to bring home more gold from the monsters you defeat rather than simply clear areas for drops.

The distinction between finding a Lem and deciding where to socket it matters. A rune placed in gear is serving that item's purpose, so think about how long you expect to use the piece and how well it fits your farming setup before committing it.

Extra gold is appealing, but it isn't the only reason to keep a Lem. The rune also has a place in Runewords, and that flexibility can make holding onto it more useful than adding gold find to an item you might soon replace.

Which D2R Runewords use a Lem Rune

Treachery and Wealth both use Lem, but they point toward different equipment goals. Treachery is relevant to mercenary equipment, while Wealth belongs in the conversation when you're putting together a gold-farming setup.

For a player working on a mercenary, Treachery gives Lem a purpose beyond the gold bonus on a socketed item. Your mercenary's gear is part of your overall setup, so consider that need alongside the equipment you're planning for your own character.

Wealth is the more direct choice to investigate when gold farming is your priority. It gives you a reason to save Lem for a dedicated piece instead of treating the rune as a quick upgrade for whatever happens to have an open socket.

Before making either Runeword, check the complete recipe and the item you plan to use. Having the Lem ready is only part of the decision, and it pays to know what you want the finished piece to do before you commit your materials.

Should you socket a Lem Rune or save it

Start with the character you actually play. If that character already has suitable gear for gold farming, a socketed Lem may fit your immediate plan. If you're still assembling the setup, keeping the rune available gives you room to choose between a socket and a Runeword later.

Mercenary gear can shift that decision. A player who needs a Treachery setup may value the Runeword more than extra gold on a temporary item, even if the gold bonus sounds useful right now.

For a dedicated gold-farming build, compare the gear you intend to keep with the gear you're merely using for now. The best home for Lem is the one that supports the runs you plan to repeat, not necessarily the first item you can put it in.

Lem earns its place through extra gold, Treachery, and Wealth, so match the rune to your next equipment goal before spending it. Then check the gear you already own and consider cheap D2R Items alongside your planned setup before deciding where your Lem belongs.
